The sun protection factor (SPF) is a measurement of how much solar energy (UV radiation) is required to cause sunburn on sun-protected skin (i.e., in the presence of sunscreen) compared to unprotected skin. Sunburn protection increases as the SPF value rises.

Wear sunscreen” This is the most important, fundamental, don't-leave-home-without-it tip. On all exposed skin, experts recommend using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Hands, feet, ears, and lips should all be considered. It's also worth noting that sunscreen must be reapplied every couple of hours, so bring extra sunscreen for long summer days spent outside. Half a teaspoon for your face and neck and a full teaspoon per limb at first and again when reapplying should be enough. Remind yourself to reapply by setting an alarm on your phone.

Sunscreens provide skin protection.  They play an important role in preventing the skin from absorbing ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV rays can cause skin damage, sunburns and skin cancer.

Water and sand require extra caution. These surfaces reflect the sun's harmful rays, increasing your chances of getting a sunburn. A lot of us like to visit the beaches in the summertime. Although the beach is a very nice place to relax your mind and body, we have to keep in mind that seawater can damage our hair and skin. Furthermore, without sunscreen, direct sunlight can burn our skin, which is extremely harmful.

Between the hours of 10 to 4, limit your time in the sun. This is when the sun's rays are the most intense. You can practice the Shadow rule:  “If your shadow is shorter than you, the sun's rays are at their strongest, and you should find shade.”

Wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face, neck, and ears. Sunglasses with UV absorption of 99% to 100% provide the best protection for the eyes and surrounding skin.

If you're taking medication that makes you more sensitive to the sun, be even more cautious.  Antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, antifungals, blood pressure medications, and chemotherapies are all examples of these.

Exfoliating is the key to smooth and soft skin in the summertime. Exfoliating is extremely important when it comes to our skin. It is necessary to exfoliate your skin from time to time. When we talk about exfoliation, getting the right exfoliator for your face and body can literally take your skincare game up in no time during the summers. Amlaki’s Goat Milk Soap is a versatile product that can help you in this regimen.

We might not have realized that our skin needs the best pampering, especially in the summer, and hence the best way to do it is by using face masks. Face masks work by nourishing the skin from the inside out, making it supple and plump. Amlaki offers a wide array of face masks like Charcoal, Clay, Anti Acne, Rose Brightening, etc.
